A resumption of the theme "First child" for this sculpture which I created on the birth of Iris, my latest little grand-daughter. I applied myself to expressing what it feels like to be in front of a new-born baby, a mixture of worry for their future life in a changing world, and ofwonder.
To think outside the box, I tackled pizzlys, the fruit of an amorous encounter between Grizzly Bears and Polar Bears. “Coffee with milk...” bears. The song "Mélangez-vous" by Pierre Perret, which should be part of the school repertoire, is not far off the mark. Bears are not racist and they try to see further by perching on top of each other!
