“Passing through, passing through.
Sad, happy voyage
In this world of rage,
I am only passing through”
Graeme Alwright

Art is a search at the heart of oneself that extends to others in a communication without words.  A study of one’s own humanity, one’s own animality, one’s own sensitivity.

Thus, the artist speaks little, their work speaks to whomever wants to hear or who can understand.  From then on, exhibitions become vital to the artist since it is the work that speaks.

The artist’s work is also their “livelihood”.  Their work will be exhibited wherever there are people to whom they speak and where sometimes they will be sold.

Some are places of prestige;

Museums (Saulieu, Saint Brieux, Berck, Lille….)
Places of learning (La Sorbonne)
Art Fairs (Namur, Rouen, Montpellier, Lille, Paris, London, New York……)
Places of industry or places of culture (Centre Cultural de Villepinte, Corderies d’Etaples, Grange Dîmière de Voiron…)
Art Galleries and even the Internet

All places of study, of research, of communication, of work are therefore places to confront the “interior” of the artist and "the outside world says intellectual or laborious".

In short, for over 30 years Sophie Verger has been following her very personal path of direct contact with the public, in her studio, in her region, in galleries and also abroad.

Erwin Panofsky (1892-1968) indicated that “art is timeless and universal”.   We share this analysis which tends to disqualify the history of art seen by the temporal chapels of art historians or those of the "primitive art" type.  For us, art passes more through individuals than through movements or eras.
